| Getting married in the BVI is an extreme pleasure. It is not difficult at all but there are certain legal requirements pertaining to weddings. Of course your friendly Wedding Consultant, Elaine, is available to accompany you to all the relevant government offices, and assist you in the legal process. |
- In order to apply for the marriage licence, both parties must be in the BVI at least three working days before the wedding date (it takes three working days to process).

- The application is made at the Attorney General's Chambers by both parties in the presence of one or two witnesses of your choice (your wedding planner can also provide witnesses if you desire).

- Two witnesses are needed for the wedding ceremony but they need not be the same two that accompanied you for the application.

- If either party has previously been married, you should have the ORIGINAL Decree Absolute OR Death Certificate of the deceased spouse, whichever applies. If you only have a copy, simply inform your Wedding Consultant so that she may properly advise you.

- When you apply you MUST both have your passports along with any documents that were given to you by Immigration upon entering the BVI.

- No blood test is necessary.
|
- Marriages may only be performed between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
|
- A Civil Marriage Officer cannot perform a religious wedding. However, you can create a religious atmosphere by allotting your family members and friends to do religious aspects of your wedding, such as readings, prayers, etc.
